Vasectomy Is The Savior For Kiwi’s As Recesion Bites

More New Zealand men get the snip as recession hits.

KIWI families aren't just tightening the purse strings in the recession. They're putting their most intimate assets under the knife.

Doctors in New Zealand say the number of men seeking vasectomies has risen steeply in the past year as the recession bites and unemployment rises.

Kiwi men are now among the most likely in the world to get the snip, with more than half of men over 40 believed to have had the procedure, the Dominion Post newspaper reports.

Vasectomy specialist Dirk Venter, at the Henderson Medical Centre in Auckland, said financial concerns were a key motivator.

A vasectomy is much cheaper and less invasive than a female hysterectomy.
