British actress Lucy Gordon was found dead in her Paris flat.
Police say there were no suspicious circumstances.
The actress played the role of Jennifer Dugan, a British reporter, in Spider-Man 3.
She was currently working on a film about French musician Serge Gainsbourg, in which she was cast as his British wife, actress and singer Jane Birkin.
Selected scenes from Gainsbourg: Heroic Life have been played this week at the Cannes Film Festival and Gordon was seen in the film industry as a possible future star.
"The film owes a lot to the generous spirit, to the kindness and immense talent of Lucy Gordon," said the film's director, Joann Sfar, and its producers in a statement.
Spider-Man 3 director Sam Raimi said he was shocked to learn of Gordon's death.
