Major Phil Packer Complets London Marathon 13 Days After Starting
A serviceman on crutches has just completed the London Marathon today 9th May 2009, a journey he embarked on on the 26th April 2009.
Major Packer has also rowed the Channel and sky dived
Major Phil Packer of the Royal Military Police lost the use of his legs during a rocket attack in Iraq.
The 36 year old was told he would never walk again after he was hurt last February.
But he battled the odds to make the start of the 26mile-race in Greenwich on April 26.
Having achieved his target of two miles a day he has just crossed the finishing line in The Mall.
Major Packer's aim is to raise £1m for soldiers' charity Helpy For Heroes. He has already got pledges of more than £600,000.
